Knife edge (sometimes called razor-edge) blades are honed and polished to a very thin, very sharp edge. They cut more easily and stay sharp longer. However, they are much more fragile and must be treated with great care. Even laying the shears down with the blades open can damage the thin edges. The blades are also hollow ground, with extra concave grinding added to the blades to give a more precise, sharper cutting edge. The combination of hollow ground on the inside of the blades and knife edge on the outside results in extremely thin blades which cut the hair more crisply. Dovo's MicroMotion adjustable screw technology insures comfort and performance. The Teflon pressure plate is spring-loaded in a rubber micro ring, and the calibrated metal fitting allows for precise adjustment. These shears are forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging compacts the molecules to make the shears more durable and long-lasting. "True" left-hand scissors have blades completely re-oriented for the lefty, as opposed to only contouring the handles for the left hand.

This hair shear has one plain edge and one "corrugated", micro-serrated edge in which the fine serrations help hold the hair in position, enabling the blade to give a cleaner and better cut. A micro-corrugated blade edge is not quite as thin as a Knife Edge, but it is also not as fragile. On a hair shear, the fine serrations of corrugated edge are almost invisible. One way to check for a corrugated edge is to run the tip of your fingernail down the edge of the blade, feeling for the fine serrations
