The Gerber Pocket Sharpener as rated the best of its kind in "The Best" column by Kirk Kandle in Louisville's Courier Journal in 2001. Kandle says that once you have a sharp edge on a knife, this pocket sharpener is the best at keeping that edge sharp.

The two sets of ceramic sharpening rods are not aggressive, but rather for touching up. The gray coarse ceramic rods prepare the edge for further honing, then the fine ceramic rods will restore a very sharp edge. The ceramic rods are pre-set to an appropriate angle for sharpening. 

The Gerber Pocket Sharpener is comfortable to hold, with depressions for the thumb and forefinger which act as a protective finger guard. Handy and lightweight, this pocket sharpener weighs less than an ounce. It measures 1-3/4" x 2-3/8". It has a hole for a key chain, or tucks neatly in a pocket or purse.

Sharpening Instructions: 1. To use, simply position fingers behind the finger guard and hold the knife at a 90 degree angle to the sharpener. 2. Pull the blade back lightly in straight, even strokes. 3. Start with the gray coarse ceramic rods (side "1" in the illustration) to remove blade imperfections. 4.
