These Dovo combination nail and cuticle scissors have a heavy screw which gives strength for cutting fingernails. The thick blades "scoop" down to thin sharp narrow points for cuticle cutting. These manicure scissors measure 3-1/2" in total length, and the blades cut 1". These scissors have large finger rings and are nickel-plated, with a closed shank, curved blades, and a heavy screw.

The closed shank (the length of the handles between the joint and the rings) is an indicator of a higher quality scissor. It takes precision and detailed hand work to make the shank fit smoothly together.

The heavy screw will not break while cutting fingernails, as compared to the tiny screw in traditional cuticle scissors. However, because the tips are so thin, we recommend that it is easier on both the scissors and the fingernail if thick nails are trimmed a tiny slice at a time.

These scissors are forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging makes the metal harder so the scissors stay sharp longer. (Inexpensive nail scissors are made from soft metal that will not hold an edge.)

These quality scissors have a screw and are adjustable, and can be fine-tuned when that becomes necessary. (Inexpensive scissors are often riveted, and cannot be adjusted.)
