This nickel-plated Dovo thinning shear with 42 teeth measures 6-1/2" in overall length plus the attached 1/2" finger rest. Super-fine "V" notches on the end of the teeth allow for smooth, snag-free cutting. There is a rubber silencer stop between the finger rings. These good quality thinning shears can be recognized by the fine, exact equal angle cutting of the individual teeth, the equal distance between each tooth and by the even action (i.e., not too strongly curved and with a good support behind the screw.)

This thinning shear is forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging makes the metal stronger so the thinning shears are strong but not bulky, and they will stay sharp longer. Because these thinning scissors are not stainless steel, they could eventually rust if kept in very humid or moist conditions.

This Dovo thinning scissor measures 6-1/2" plus the 1/2" length of the attached finger rest. Dovo calls this a 7" thinning shear. Dovo defines the length of a thinning shear depending on whether or not the finger rest is attached. If the finger rest is detachable, the length of the thinning shear does not include the finger rest. If the finger rest is attached as part of the hair shear, the total length is defined as including the finger rest.
